สวัสดีค่ะ (sa-wat-dee ka) — glad you're here

I design for moments that matter.

I'm Vanvisa Musigapala, a product designer for moments like these: a customer deciding whether to upgrade, a team proving the value of their work, a patient trying to reach their doctor. I make them clear and a little more human.

About herdesigning since 2019

I believe great products are built through collaboration.

I've shipped a native mobile chat serving 500K+ patients, a B2B attribution system that made partner work visible to leadership, and pricing work that doubled company records.

I combine strategic thinking with emotional design — and I believe in lifelong learning and saying, "I don't know… but I can find out."

2022 — Now Crossbeam · Product Designer

B2B SaaS taught me business: how pricing works, where revenue comes from, and how design fits into both.

2021 — 2022 Carbon Five · Product Designer

Consulting taught me range: a new domain and a new team every few months, and how to get up to speed quickly.

2019 — 2021 Kaiser Permanente · Product Designer

Healthcare taught me stakes: when someone's health is involved, every detail matters.

Problem

Enterprise teams were drowning in tools — multi-step report creation was too manual, and toggling between separate reports and shared lists fragmented the experience.

My part

Lists homepage, sharing & collaboration, navigation for different seat types, and AI-powered list creation. Facilitated the framing sessions that turned ambiguity into a roadmap.

Team

Me + Staff Product Designer, PM, 5 engineers, Director of Product Marketing.

Outcome

A phased roadmap enabling channel and enterprise expansion — MVP shipped Aug ’25, with AI-powered creation proposed before it was on the roadmap.

Problem

Self-serve revenue had plateaued, and customers couldn’t tell what each tier actually got them.

My part

Billing page redesign, upgrade and checkout flow optimization, and the add-seats experience — plus making sure existing customers understood their changes early.

Team

Me + Staff Product Designer, PM, 3 engineers, Product Marketing Manager. Three months, shipped at quarter close.

Outcome

Launch month doubled the previous self-serve revenue record. The rest of the numbers are a conversation.

Problem

Partnership teams drove millions in revenue but couldn’t prove it — their work lived in spreadsheets, memory, and informal notes, invisible to leadership.

My part

Lead designer on the 6-month 0→1 MVP, from discovery and concept through ship. The design bet: traceable enough to defend, approachable enough to actually use.

Team

Me + PM, working directly with internal and customer partnership teams.

Outcome

Partner teams finally had proof — the system now tracks nine figures of partner-influenced revenue.

Problem

Filtering complex data required technical knowledge — ANDs and ORs across multiple fields blocked non-technical users.

My part

The idea: what if you could just… ask, in plain English? Designed and prototyped a conversational filter builder in 24 hours.

Team

Small hackathon squad — 1st place of 8 teams.

Outcome

Won the company hackathon and shaped the product’s AI direction. Biggest lesson: AI UX starts with transparency — show users exactly what the system is doing.

These are snapshots on purpose — I think case studies are better as conversations. Tap a project for the short version, and if one catches your eye, I'd love to walk you through the rest.

The human partsa.k.a. my principles
Trust is built through clarity

When things are complex or high-stakes, my job is to make them feel manageable. It's the part of design I care about.

"I don't know… but I can find out"

I say this a lot. I'd rather admit what I don't know and go learn it than pretend I already do.

Don't live life on hard mode

Ask for help early. Use the tools that make things easier. Find little pockets of joy and fun when I can.

Always learning

Getting better at shaping design direction beyond my own projects — and at talking about design in terms the business cares about. Still working on it.
